ILAE Curriculum Development Retreat - August 14-16, 2009
ILAE in partnership with the Northwest School has
received a generous $100K matching grant to develop a global curriculum that
incorporates the best practices from different models and enables students in
different countries to take courses that meet the same global standard. This
would allow the same high school course to be taught simultaneously in the US
and ILAE, enabling students enrolled in both schools to collaborate on projects
leveraging technology. Imagine a 10th grader in Seattle Washington and a 10th
grader in Addis Ababa both taking World History I and learning about 18th
century significant events. The student in Seattle would research about events that occurred
in Africa while the student in Addis would find out about events that occurred
in the west and they would collaborate in the research and final presentation.
This would expand the knowledge and experience of students in both schools.
A distinguished group of curriculum experts will convene at the world know
Bastyr University for a 3-day retreat in
August to create the ILAE curriculum!
