The Academy

The International Leadership Academy of Ethiopia is a non-profit college prep high school being launched by IKON Education Institute, a tax exempt, nonprofit organization in Washington State in partnership with distinguished global and local leaders. Our vision is to open a leadership academy that recruits and develops academically gifted and talented students in Ethiopia.

ILAE will be located in Ethiopia's capital city: Addis Ababa. Addis Ababa is where the federal government of Ethiopia resides and where the African Union and the Economic Commission of Africa are headquartered. The partnerships and interactions with these institutions will benefit ILAE students.

The initial campus will lie upon 15 acres of land that are easily accessible to students. It will be equipped with the state of the art computer centers, science laboratories, world languages labs, media center, athletic fields, and dormitories for resident students and faculty.

Curriculum

ILAE offer a rigorous curriculum that incorporates the accredited International Baccalaureate (IB) program, the Advanced Placement (AP) program, as well as a strong service based Leadership program that incorportes all 5 Critical Success Factors (CSF) for 21st century education, a study sponsored by Microsoft and known as the SOF architecture.

Our goal is for each student is to equip them with a rigorous interdisciplinary academic and leadership knowledge and practical experience that would allow them to become successful as critical thinking leaders of the next generation.in their academic, leadership and community areas:

• Academic Excellence:
  ILAE students will be surrounded with the best of the best and the brightest students in the country. The rigorous and well rounded world class curriculum will equip them with all the knowledge and experience of both the International Baccalaureate (IB) and the Advancement Placement (AP) program offered in the best high schools around the world.
• Core Leadership Skills:
  ILAE will nurture, challenge and expand their horizon and to enable them to reach their leadership potential. They will learn with bright students from the expat, business, public service, urban and rural families who have been carefully selected for their leadership potential. Guest lecturers with an array of local, regional and global leadership experience will provide students ample opportunities to be moved and inspired to make a difference in the world.
• Global Perspective:
  Students will experience an exchange program with a network of sister high schools for academically talented students worldwide and the use of state of the art multimedia technology to bridge the digital divide and a robust world languages program that includes English, French and Chinese.
• Post-Graduation Pathways:
  As an ILAE graduate and equipped with IB & AP education, students will become a top candidate for any of the best college in the world. Our close relationship with several top universities will also open full and partial scholarship pathways for every graduate.
